Help on the way!

We were driving around Gokarna scouting for land or a house to buy last week and at one point we stoped by a small house to ask a few queations to a local woman about the area and if there were any land for sale based on her knowledge. After a short time the womans' daughter spotted us and came down to join our conversation. But on her way down she accidentally hit her head on the metal roofing construction and it started to bleed profoundly. I told her that I was a nurse and wished to take a look at the wound.
It was a big, big cut and I told her that she really needed to visit the local hospital. But no, she refused... And in my poor knowledge of the local language I tried to convince her that she really needed to have a Doctor to take a look at it, and I tried to explain about all the risks that was there if she didn't go immediately; fever, sepsis, local infection...

And FINALLY after what felt like half and houre her brother took her and we followed them to the hospital. The local doctor was not present at the moment, so the nurse has to do the initial preparation of cleaning and whas about to do the stitching when finally the doctor came to assess the situation. He was very deferment to know whether the wound was a result after an accident or based on assult since he faces alot of situations where people take advantage of government hospitals by claiming that the wound appeared by an accidental situation instead by assult.
Believe it or not. But the cooperation between Doctor and Police is as intimate as the one with other health care workers. And nor are crime rate and assults less in areas with more tourists.
I'm so so happy that we persuade the woman choosing to go to the hospital and to claim her right to medical care that she has as an Indian citizen. And even free of charge.
I started to imagin how many Indians who actually never ever would concider to visit a hospital or healthcare center when health problem arise in their family. When we had problem to convince only one person...

And ofcourse, I also kept thinking that this accident would never happened if we never visited their house..:/ But maybe this situation that occured wanted to tell us something...?!

The majority of the Indian population tend to choose private health care before government provided one because of the assumtion that the care provided will have a much better standard as well as the standard of the facilities. This could sometimes cost the family a fortune. And sometime even Government employed Doctors reffer clients to the private sector when Government provided facilities fail to provide safe care or don't even have the required facilities set as a standard by the Government itself.
And if you see it from a Governments point of view; wouldn't they save money if more and more people chose a private hospital over a Government hospital that offer their services for free?!

On the other hand PM Mr. Narendra Modi have declared a new reform that will provide all BPL card holders  (Below Poverty Line) free surgery under the cost of 5 lacs. And that along with a few more reformes in the Public Health Care sector. So Mr. Modi can't be all That bad as many people are claiming...;)

But I'm indeed happy that I don't need to vote in This country. Because, based on my knowledge gained over the years, voting in India is like voting between monkeys and crows - they both like to take things that shines and put it in their own pocket.
India sure is a democracy. And politics can keep braging about being in power in the biggest democratic country in the world.  But it is not a democracy including everyone, and everyone as equal.
But I guess politics will be another blogtopic....

I've found My way to serve my fellow human beings☺
